    Ha! Funny guys!!

Ya Chris... these will be angled up about 10-15 deg

We have lots of experience with props on skiis but this jet thing should be a fun new adventure!!

Since your not going to be retracting the gear

May I suggest you tape over the wheel wells with something keep snow/water out

Please report on the steering in snow - because each ski has a deep center line fin - thinking the mains will want to track straight instead of sliding around in the corners.

I wonder with a jet you could track out say 75-100 feet straight as an arrow but go very slow and let the jet exhaust slightly melt the snow - as it cools you would create your own bob-sled ice track behind the jet. Then when your ready for the real take-off you got your slick fast runway built

Gee it would be like " Thunderbirds are a Go! " FAB TREV
    If he can't retract it's a fail!

    Re: Boomerang Sprint one Skiis

Here is the completed ski project.

The yellow silicon tubing provides the "spring" and the plastic coated Kevlar wire connects the skiis to the struts. The Kevlar wire is double knotted and shoved into the silicon and the zip tie prevents it from coming out.

Picked up this trick from Brent Bullen in Calgary when I did a Carden build for him.. this is what he uses for the tailwheel connection to the rudder. I have been doing it ever since!

    Re: Boomerang Sprint on Skiis

Trevor, I didn't read the whole thread, but when we were flying jets in winter (that was 15 years ago) we found that the propane in the green bottles worked better in the cold than the butane/propane mixed gasses. Otherwise if you keep the start gas warm then it shouldn't matter. We never tried kero start, that was in the days before kero start was available so I can't comment on that

Hi Trev you should be ready to adjust the elevator trim as the barn/door ski's at that positive angle will change the normal pitch of the nose

PS: it not really a fail if you resist the use of your retracts
PS: PS: With all the snow you got you prob could do a test drive outside your front door
I know your neighbors are so use to your test runs by now!

Ya... lots of snow here. But no intentions of running this in the powder. I deliberately went with smaller skiis to reduce any adverse effects in the air and also to keep me away from trying this in the powder to save the turbine!!

Weather is looking ideal for this snow to pack and make a good base in time for New Year's Day
