Re: The never ending Car / Truck picture thread

Yes I have Bill. It came with 2 sets of tires on rims, brand new winters and 1/2 used summers so we switched them over to the summer ones. The power steering pump leaks a bit and the seller supplied a seal kit for it so need to do that yet. It runs pretty nice so we have been driving it quite a bit. For some reason the kids seem to like finding excuses to take it to school instead of riding the bus, no idea why that is!

On another note, we dug out my daughter's Jetta last Saturday and started it up for the first time in 4 years. It had a 1/2 tank of stale gas in it with no stabilizer so I thought we would need to drain it and put in fresh. Nope! Dropped a battery in, twisted her tail and she fired up on the second compression! Runs like a top on that old gas. I couldn't believe it!
The parts car we got out at Vernon last summer had some nice shiny rims on it so we changed them over. Looks pretty good on this car but the rubber on them isn't up to much so I priced out new ones eh? Lor' have mercy on this ol' skinflint!!! Just about bought the farm right there! $380 each as opposed to $85 for the stock fare! Not so sure if those rims are that nice!

Now to get that 1/4 panel changed over... may have to wait till after grad this spring, she can "make do" with the Porsche for now.

Re: The never ending Car / Truck picture thread

My tire dealer found me a set of rubber for the new wheels on the Jetta for $108 each, much better, maybe not rated as high on the performance side but good enough for a stock engine. A new kink cropped up though as the wheel bolts for the aftermarket rims were too long and caught the auto adjust mechanism on the rear brakes and in a few blocks had backed the rear brake adjustment all the way off!

So it was back to the Porsche for grad and it was a better color match for her outfit anyway. Now here is the amusing bit, her escort shows up and he doesn't drive a standard shift car! Can you imagine that? An 18 year old young fellow that can't work his own gears? I'm looking around the yard and realize that of all the vehicles we have (20 including tractors and motorbikes) there is nothing he can drive here! So off they go in his Dad's Tahoe... nice kid but take the purse off your shoulder buddy!!

Installed a set of Ford racing lowering springs Merv. Dropped the car a full inch and stiffen things up a bit. Looks much better and handles a bit better as well.

Yes it does look more business like Bill.

And being a Ford it will need all the help it can get in the handling department.
    Just kidding!

Vette is going in next Monday Merv. Shooting for another 150hp to the rears. Also dropping the car and inch.

Re: The never ending Car / Truck picture thread

    Woo - hoo! Sweet!

My son in law is driving the '85 944 this summer and some 16 year old kid in a Mustang was goading him at the lights a couple days ago so he showed him what an old Porsche would do.

I'm thinking it was a V6 as I really never envisioned the 944 as a lights to lights warrior, too high of gearing and that 2.5 ltr has a lot of rotating mass.

Lost our nice little Jetta wagon just recently so my daughter's old '92 two door is now on the road again. Sooner than I would have liked as I still have some work to do on it.

I'm really going to miss that car!

Dead straight roads for hours, no traffic, full stomach, warm sunny day and all at nap time. Bad combination Bill! No I wasn't driving - that one!
