Futaba Fx-30 is a European Futaba tray Tx. Futaba and many of the other manufacturers have a variety of tray version radio's in Europe that are not sold here. They are more popular than the hand held versions that we are used to. That's why companies like Jeti always come out with the tray version first. Euro company and far more sales in the tray version. Wish I could use one as they look so cool but, being a thumbs flyer they're just not suitable. Need to be a pinch flyer to adapt.
Check these out...cool stuff

I saw Trevor's 104 in the driveway the other day. Pictures are cool but it's something else to see the monster live! I had to get some measurements to work out the wing loading.
Assuming 60lbs take-off, it is 11.75 lbs/ft^2 = 188 oz/ft^2
Assuming 50lbs landing, that is 9.79 lbs/ft^2 = 156 oz/ft^2
Doesn't that scare you a bit Trevor?

LOL! Wow!! I should have never pulled the tape measure out
11.75lbs/ft2.... isn't a glider around 9-10??? LOL.
Yep.. I'm definitely a little shaky!!
My Xicoy scales/CG machine arrives Friday afternoon this week, so we'll see what the weight comes in at. Sheesh... what did I get myself into![]()

You got yourself into a rocket powered dart... LOL.... Meh, it'll be a pussy cat... With BIG SHARP CLAWS... LoL, scaring you yet?
The real 104 had one speed... Full speed.
It will sure look impressive that's for sure! Honestly it's one of my dream jets to have, not much looks like a 104, and yours is beautiful! I am sure you will be fine Trevor.
Your going to love the scale, but just watch out, it can be easy to "obsess" over an exact CG with in MM, other wise I love mine. Just take your time measuring everything. I found the method I had mentioned to you the easiest way to measure. Just make sure if you have any base boards to make your measure from the same distance. Like when measuring the distance from the wheels to the wall that it's the same as when you measure the CG to the wall. I.e. Don't measure from wheels to base board and CG to the wall. Know what I mean?

Thanks Louis!! Yep - very scared now!!!
When I get the CG machine I'll start a thread. I know a couple guys have them (Rick has one), but I plan to share mine around here with the local gents, so I figure probably a good idea to have a thread that we can refer to. Thanks for your tips!!

I read somewhere that, something like 60% of the lift is generated by the fuse. Not sure how that would play into you calibrations.. But I can also tell you with my Avonds F-104 those tiny wings feel like there an 8' WS. Going with the "Bigger is Better" theory.. and I believe it to be true! Your going to love your Manned Missile TrevNothing to worry about.
