Any Interest for a de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter Kit???

    Hey Everyone.

I've been toying around the idea of producing a Canadian Heritage Line of Planes.

A company in the past had a great line up but it is getting very hard to find these anymore....

I have been working on a set of plans for the DHC-6 Twin Otter and hope to have them done in about a week or so.

If you guys/gals are interested, what size would you like to see?

I will keep you all posted on the progress of this and all the other kits we plan to cut and sell.

Something no larger than .40 sized could interest me.
Had one of those but it broke!

What size were you thinking Dezi? Do you have any specs and what powerplants it would require?

Excited to see what you have cooking!!

I agree with Merv.... Something in the 40 to 60 size would be nice and would probably generate a lot of intrest... Could still be powered by 40 to 60 size 2 or 4 strokes or electrified and wouldn't be a bank breaker.

Or require a hanger to store and a semi to transport.

Roughly the size o the former Hangar 9 would be good. Plenty of options for power, easily transportable without a trailer, cost efficient..

Was thinking around 80" Trev? Actually when I do finish up all the design layouts, I am going to go back and offer it from 1/6 - 1/3 scale sizes. Will be a wood kit with fiberglass as well. Also We are designing up EDO Float kits from 1/8 Scale to 1/3 Scale. Would be a great addition to this plane for sure. Will keep you all posted on the progress. We MIGHT be looking for a couple of builders to try these kits out and get some feedback.. Oh ya and the kits will be FREE!!!!! ONLY FOR THE First Prototypes that is

You are on the right track in my opinion, floats are the first thing to pop to mind when I think twin Otter!

Built mine about ten years ago from Model Builder plans. First flew with stubborn GMS .47 engines. Will fly this summer with twin Eflite power 32's

Re: Any Interest for a de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter Kit???

How about a Twin Otter RC at about 72" span? This could be powered with some low cost (relatively) 42-50 or 42-60 size brushless motors, a pair of 60A ESCs, and probably 2 Lipos of 3S or 4S.
The Ivan Pettigrew plans and laser cut kits are 67" or 84" and this 72" size would fit nicely in between. Likely good use of the wood parts as well at this span.
