Just picked up my Stearman yesterday but this one does not have the Sierra Gear, bit of a bummer . For the price of the kit I can't complain. Has anyone ever heard anything about the use of the stock metal Gear ?? did they have problems with them . I can't find a single comment on them ?? I could buy the sierra and still be at 1/2 the cost of a new kit but it's still $500 I don't need to spend if it's just a matter of pretty verses not so pretty LOL. they will be completely covered anyway ..I don't mind paying for sierra if they are stronger , Trevor can you tell me how much does the sierra gear weigh , maybe I can justify sierra in weight savings LOL. the glass kit I can justify . cheers ..

Roger... tons of complaints online about the original gear... very weak, lots of failures and just not fit for the job especially if done up heavy with the Moki. Pretty significant difference in the pics if the original gear and Sierra gear are side by side.

I think if it's just a matter of the leg bending I can make up a new set of tubes from 7075 T7 . I can see spending the cash for a retract but a straight strut is nothing to make ..
