I think I understand Jack's experience with GP and respect his current opinion for sure. I have a GP123 that has been very good for me. I recently read a post from someone who flew this new GP178 and everything he said sounded most awesome. I have no experience with a Tillotson carb but maybe there is something to it. I'd love to see if this new engine is so great and I would gladly bolt one on the front of my 123" Laser and test it if Santa brought me one.
Humber Valley RC Flyers
Nothing new Brodie...they been on a lot of engines and not only RC....frik I even had a chintz 30 with a tillotson on it...ran fantstic!!! 3W seems to do very well with them.
This new GP-178 might turn out to a be good engine...be years before we know....but like I said, they claim to have done their homework last time around.

Extra extra read all about it. Newest power house to dominate the 150cc class engines. Why the cc increase? Someone lost measuring bamboo or this is to compensate for the holes found in the cylinder walls.

So Jim sent in the GP123 to AMR with the mark on the cylinder.
I noticed there was no follow up report on how things faired out. Maybe Jim can give an update LOL!!
