Ya... slowed the servos down just to make sure the movement was smooth with no binding anywhere. I'm told that the spoilers pop up really fast and then retract a bit slower so I will play with the speeds during final set-up once I have Sandro's JR28x bound.

    Right wing flap finished.

Mixed feelings on the linkage. Very strong, but a bit of slop. Will have Sandro take a look and get his opinion. Might end up doing an external linkage with external control horn

    Trev,

Me thinks you are overthinking the flaps. They just have to deploy and retract. Airflow will keep everything tight.

This isn't a 3M Vertigo with barn door ailerons that get whacked around all over the place during flight. LOL

    Looking good so far.

The full scale uses a combo of the spoilers and ailevator (differential elevator) to roll at slow speeds with the wings extended. At high speeds with the wings raked, ailevator only for roll. The slats and flaps will only extend with the wing forward.

Same guy showing a flap - to - elevator mix.

I find the Butterfly mode works better and more simple but multiple ways to accomplish same goal...

    Re: Skymaster F14 Fully Loaded!!

Trevor, another epic F-14 build! Love it, absolutely love it! As Mike said the F-14 used the spoilers as ROLL spoilers with the ailivator mix, and then just the ailivator when the wings are retracted. So when using as roll spoilers they deploy and retract at the speed of the contol input, then as speed brakes on landing they deploy and retract as you have them set up. Fast up, slow down. Also of course I am sure you know, the flaps and slats only when wings are extended.

I agree with Jim, as long as the linkage is strong on the flap system, a little play wont matter. The airflow will keep them in place in each postion. You should see the slop in the flap systems of real planes. All the planes I have flown have a lot of slop in the flap system. Some it was even required.
