I'd support what Bill says. I've probably owned 7-10 DA's also. Hundreds of flights on each. Have had the usual issues such as bearings and some weird one-off's but the cost to repair is usually very low and in many cases they have covered it under warrantee.

Count on 4-6 weeks, but keep in mind that 2 of those weeks are just shipping which is out of their control.

I would rather repair my motors. I hate sending away. Can't imagine losing 4-6 weeks during flying season. My last DA100L that had a leaky bearing I flew for 1/2 a season and dealt with the oil and then had it fixed over the winter, LOL

Shipping from Texas is about $20 USPS Priority. I get motors serviced and returned in about 2 weeks. Never had an issue with it taking long.

What forms did you fill out to get that kind of service?

I fill out the same one that's available online. Keep in mind that AZ is close by... shipping takes 2-3 days max. And I try to send stuff in during the off season.

Craig - unfortunately sending cross border means a lot longer. We can expect at least another week. If I really needed an engine turned around fast for a contest I have driven it across the border and sent it from the US side and had it sent back to a US mailbox.

Generally sending from up here it takes about a week 7-9 days to get to Tucson. Then how long you wait will depend on how many engines are waiting for repair. This is a good time of year to send the engines in especially if you really do not need them until next spring.

You folks in Texas have pretty much a full year flying season but up here we have snow on the ground now.

You're right, we can fly *almost year round... we usually have 1-2 days where it's too cold to fly... hehe (jokes guys)

The trade off is in July and August. Temps reach 102-105 and can melt canopies. :/. Not real fun to fly in those conditions but we do.

Just be careful on cost, if you do the cylinder lightening, all bearings, carb rebuild plus the shipping you will be getting pretty close to your limit. DA has always shipped stuff really fast to me, but that's not cheap!

That said, DA resale is pretty good, if you get the DA stamp of approval on this one you could probably turn it over and have some cash to put towards a 120 if you're so inclined....or better yet a 123!
ya i want more power for the beast i saw a guys with the 120cc in it and dam my 100cc was sleeping vs his 120cc beast haha

I think I have owned 7 DA's and any time I needed service I have been happy with the outcome.

I had a bearing go on a DA50 - sent it down, they rebuilt the engine and sent it back to me - I only paid shipping

I have a clip go in a DA100 - messed up a connecting rod and cylinder, I sent it down, they rebuilt the engine, new cylinder, piston, rod - I only paid shipping

I recently sent it a DA150 that had a dumb thumbs landing - they did a bunch of work and it cost me $200 to replace a cylinder, piston, ring, rod, hub and spindle.

They are bad at answering the phone but great at what they do and rarely charge you for more than parts. They have told me that they generally will not do more than $150 before getting authorization from the owner.

On the service form write in to contact you before repair. I am confident that they will not charge you $400 unless you authorize the repair.
good to know bill that what iam going to do this week i will send it but i may sell it when comme back not because i dont like it this engine more then perfect but iam looking for a 120cc power in the beast
