Ya Joe... The Aura8 is now setup to my liking and no more need to carry a laptop!!
I varied stick priority from 10% (no stabilizing once sticks are just off center) to 90% (stabilizing even with sticks out near end max throw)... Massive difference in feel and on this plane ended up liking 70%
I have no clue what the iGyro was at because this parameter cannot be adjusted

Hey Trevor, glad you gave it a serious shot. I do remember thinking the same thing as you after set my first one up, I thought I would need a laptop with me all the time. As it turned out, once I figured out the settings I liked there was no reason for further adjustment.
You have to think the value proposition is pretty fantastic relative to Cortex and iGyro!
One of the more experienced gentlemen at my club made a comment about stabilization yesterday so I turned it off to show him that I could still fly...he couldn't tell when I had it on or off. But, with it on it sure want bouncing around in the bumpy air like it was with it off!

Yep! It is a great value proposition for sure! In the air, it didn't perform any better than the iGyro or Cortex but I did like the fine tuning with stick priority!
I would still recommend iGyro or Cortex for a new guy into gyros who is on the fence and perhaps doesn't fully believe in them! I think the flexibility of the Aura could turn some people off (me included) vs simple plug and play!
Even a $26 SDS Hobbies gyro is a huge upgrade and works awesome. Really just about personal preference IMO.

I will let you know how a rank beginner makes out with Aura in the next couple weeks, no other gyro experience so could be interesting.

Please do Rick. I'm at the same place, got caught up in the hype last winter and bought an Aura. It's been sitting on the self since then pretty much untouched. Mine is destined to go into a Pilot RC Sport 88 (sacrificial lamb) and I'll be trying to use the Graupner SumD signal feed. As you said - should be interesting but I keep finding other projects to put ahead of that install. Things like repainting part of the shop wall, gives you some indication of the enthusiasm I have for what I'm sure will be a head banging day or two until I figure it out, burn it out or you find it in the buy and sell section. LOL

Hey Terry, I think the biggest trick to installing the gyro is to talk to someone that knows what they are doing with one, that and a remote channel to turn it on-off!! I ordered mine from T-Bolt Saturday so should be here tomorrow and it will be going into a plane next week. I have been driving Joe T. crazy with all the question I have about it and how to install it and have downloaded the program to look at it. Don't look to bad to work out..
Mine will be turned on very high in the sky the first time to try it out!

Thanks guys, I'll probably drive you both nuts with questions when I get to this project. First I want to finish rearranging the shop - that's a bit like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. It would help if I wasn't trying to store twice as much stuff as I have space for. God help my kids if I croak before I have to move, 45 plus years of collecting GOOD stuff. LOL
