    New - ZDZ180 J-Champion

I picked one of these new 180 J-Champions up for my 3m Vertigo.

Time to get it on the stand and see how it runs, LOL. I've got some baseline data of the 180 rv-j so wanted to see how the j-champion works. Going to be tough to tell much on the stand, but at minimum I can get a few liters through it and make sure all checks out before it goes in the new airframe.

I started a thread over here.... but will continue the fun here!

The 180 rv-j's that we've run here over the past couple of years have been absolutely magnificent. Unmatched power and torque that nothing else in the class can touch. I'm hoping the 180 j-champion is as good. Fingers crossed that ZDZ didn't mess with perfection, LOL.

    Re: New - ZDZ180 J-Champion

The headers are MTW double-knuckle from Jeff at Thunderboltrc.com that have been silver soldered together so that they fit properly in the Badan Vertigo

Game plan is to run this J-Champion on the Large Pro-RC Hype Cans, which seem to work equally well to the Large ProFlows.

For kicks, I'll likely also throw it on RE3's while it's on the stand and set headerlength to 13.25" which is where the 180rv-j performed flawlessly.

I'm glad you are doing an RE3 comparison to the original 180 RV-J.
    Thank-you in advance.

How about you post the numbers for all to enjoy.
And I will enjoy them, and be quiet, (pal).

LOL! Deal!! Sometimes we've gotta take the bad with the good!! If J-Champion is weaker than that Rv-J, then lesson learned not to sell such a sweet engine, LOL. Still upset about a shiney quad that I no longer own also!!

You are the driving force behind it's install this spring. I want it to be all set-up for your visit in May.

    Re: New - ZDZ180 J-Champion

Well.. a good night in the shop!!

The DLE170 is off the stand and packed up for Mike. And the 180 J-Champion is setup and ready to go.

Unfortunately, the temperature is dropping outside and supposed to be crazy cold until at least Thursday and strong winds. So the first run may only happen next weekend. If I see a window, I'll get it running

Currently sitting with Hype Cans and Falcon 32x11W. I'll run it on the same props as I did the DLE170 which should give me a good baseline vs others like the 180rv-j, GP176evo and MVVS175.
