Thanks Al. Sure is a sweet looking plane! And some nice scale schemes available
Phil.. great pictures! Thanks.
Alan.. great idea about the water as weight. I avoided buying a weight set in fear of tripping, so you confirmed my hunch, LOL.

Kevin came up with that Scheme and it currently is sitting on Kevin's dinning room table. Its powered by a DA 200 with our QC120 canisters. Jason had about two flights on it before he and Kevin went to the Shootout.
We actually had to get it covered this time by a pro. I just didn't have the time to finish covering it. I never have had anyone else cover any of our planes so we sent it down to Florida to the person that does Jason's pattern planes. Carlos Silva, his company is Tuny Pro. He did a fantastic job. We actually sent the equipment down with the plane so Jason and Carlos installed everything so it would be finished in time for the shootout. Jason first flight was at dusk. I think he got two flights and it went in the van. Jason drove from Miami to Charlotte NC to meet Kevin. Jason got a couple hours slept and then they put the plane in our trailer and Kevin and Jason left for Tucson. Tucson is 2000 mile from us and Miami is about 1000. So Jason did about 3000 miles in a little over 3 days. I am surprised he could fly at all!! LOL
All I can say is how proud I am of Kevin and Jason and what they got accomplished
Sorry to be long winded
Al

Thanks for piping in Al!! Always good to share some history on a plane!
Trevor, speaking of scale schemes my avatar is a hint..... I am using that plane as a base and modding a few things up to save some time (over 400 small squares on the leading edges on that scheme as is...!!) as well as making it more visible. The underside of that plane's wing is all green & dark blue squares, I will be doing broad chordwise stripes to contrast the upper spanwise stripe effect.
I got the LE & TE of the rudder/v-stab planed and rough sanded tonight, super cool to plane that much material off the 1/2" x 3" balsa stock!! Great long balsa curls... and just for kicks I put a lighter to one curl and WOW does that stuff burn quickly! Almost like flash paper....
I used masking tape to hold the pieces down against a stop and it worked quite well to hold things steady. I put my guide lines inside of where I needed to plane & sand to so they would always be visible. I spent some time playing around with some ideas for the tailgear plate and how to finish up that area and will post those pics once it all comes together.....in case I have to redo anything! There is some room for creativity on some areas of this plane and this is one of them.
I also rough cut the cannister mounting plates tonight but will need to wait for the headers to arrive before I go any further on them. DA100 on cans to start with and possibly (likely) tuned pipes later on.
Yep, I meant to do that.....

Thanks Al... that's a whicked story. Pure passion there to pull that all off.
Ya Ed. Has me seriously considering!! The 3.1m with a ZDZ180 or a 2.8m with piped GP123.... both sweet sounding options!!
Here are a few of my favorite scale schemes!! Those checkers on the front are a must Alan![]()

Hey Trev,
Ha!! I have trouble getting long straight lines matched up, let alone 400 + squares!!![]()
I think I will do white on the LE on the wings for visibility, especially when it is coming towards you as I find white the most visible and will maybe add in a blue and/or green stripe... or two...
Might also have something cool for the rudder to make it a one of a kind....![]()
