For anybody interested, here is where I got my hot knife: http://creepedout.ca/ They are actually a costume/art type of store but they're in Canada and they are a Hotwire Foam Factory dealer. They also sell foam if that's something you could use on a project.

Wow... lots of places that sell them! Sweet! I was thinking of buying an 8" version. Tough to find, but I hear they are even more durable and hotter than the 6". My 6" is starting to act up a bit. It has had a hard life.

Congrats on the progress Cory. I agree on the electric conversion. I have 3 electrics and 1 gas in the 35cc class and even though my MXS (gas) flies so well, I find myself pulling out the electrics far more. Such a huge convenience factor and more options to fly, especially on the golf course, LOL

That's what I'm thinking. Now that I have a generator and a sweet charging setup it is just so easy and quick. How do you find the 6s setup in your son's 30cc plane...is it comparable to gas for power?

Awesome, thanks for the offer Trevor. When the time comes, I would love to borrow the templates! I ended up buying a hot knife and wire kit at the sculpture store Scott mentioned in Etobicoke. Really cool store with lots of useful stuff for building planes.

Trevor on the RC Universe site, in the Spitfire building forum, a fellow used a Hot Knife to cut all of his hatches on the SPIT.

The job looked great. The knife looked like this.

I see curries art supply also carries some of the foam factory hotnwires. I sure if you wanted what they didn't have it could be quickly ordered for you.... After buying a decent HVLP gun I can see a Hotwire in the near future.....

Ah. That tool looks more like a soldering gun with a different tip. I can see how that would cut through a CompARF. But these Foam Factory Hot Knives are not heavy duty like that. Two completely different tools.

Wasn't it in the herb section?
