    Re: CAD software for beginner

Fusion 360 is not bad. It has a lot of tutorial videos you can follow. What I don't like is that is works in the cloud. I like to know where my files are. There are a couple other small ones to try: Ez-Cam and BobCad.
Another approach is to log on your local public library. They may have a 3D print service, so look to see what they recommend. Keep in mind, you fill need a different output file depending on what you are doing: CNC mill, 3D print, foam cutter...

I plan to buy this someday soon, when my bank balance will allow:

    Interesting thread Peter.

I have also wanted to get into drawing up my own plans. I have many dreams for the future when I have time to design again. The Arrow was a lot of fun designing and building a flyable version.

    Re: CAD software for beginner

The very first step in learning CAD is to select the appropriate program. I usually advocate starting with free software. There are also numerous lessons available online, as well as an excellent support network. Not to mention, if you declare you're using it for small projects when you join up, you may get it for free. And, once you've created your first basic design, think of something you'd really like to produce. Visit the link I add below to read the full article about this.
