We are more worried about the face of the hub. It looks fine and the threads do lot look damaged. If that's the case, then no need to replace.

I should mention that I've contacted DLE and Valley View RC with a description of what happened. I didn't expect anything but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try for whatever support was available.

DLE politely explained that a modified secondhand engine would not be eligible for any sort of coverage, which I completely understand.

Valley View told me that this happens with the single bolt prop adapter sometimes when the bolts are under-tightened and offered me a free replacement as a courtesy. Delighted, I gratefully accepted and the item is on its way!

    Cool.

So- Are you still going to replace the crank or are you going to wait a bit and give the hub another try? On your other thread, .004 TIR does not seem like much to me either.

Speaking of tightness, if having them not tight enough is the problem, are there any specified torque values you should be tightening the bolts with? It would make sense to use a small torque wrench to get it right. That would be a lot more reliable than just an "Until it feels tight enough" callout.

    Hey Max,

I'm taking bradleyban's advice and sticking with the current crank, though I've ordered a new prop hub and will test the side and face runout when I've received and installed it.

I emailed VVRC a couple of days ago for torque specs on the bolts but no answer yet.

    Hey Scott,

I've got all the parts but I've had no time to put everything back together. Hopefully soon...

    Re: AMR Trainer 26 build

    Everything's back together.

    You may notice the 18 x 8 Xoar on the front - it's a size issue. The recommended prop for a DLE 30 is an 18 x 8 2-blade, and a 16 x 8 three-blade is just too small.

I will say that I think the look suits the airplane!

Now it's just a matter of finding time. Most nights I don't get home until 5:30, so evening flying is not easy... and we're away for the next two weekends.
