I don't see a problem with it, except the wire will fall out! So a solution to that is to drill a very small hole through
the fins and pass a small bare wire through them to hold the plug wire in place. Kind of like a tie wrap thingy!

I wasn’t about to drill any fins, that’s for sure. Really don’t need to as the holes are already there. They are the holes that allow you to access the pot attachment bolts.I might slit some carbon fibre tubes that I have, slip the wires into the tubes and attach the cf tubes using the aforementioned holes.

if it really bothers you to have it hanging down then just shorten the cable, you can buy a new cap assembly from T-Bolt
