HD Camera mount for my 240 quad

I have my 250 racing quad all ready to go for this season.

I also have a Mobius HD action cam for a scale FPV warbird, but I also want to use it in my 250 to record my flying.

So, where to put it on my 250?

I would like to sling it underneath, but that is where my RX is positioned, and I don't want to put the mobius under it since it might block direct line-of-sight to the RX antenna

I found a nice spot here on top.
It seems to sit nice here, but there is nothing up top to support it.

I will have to fashion a plate that the camera can sit on top.

Re: HD Camera mount for my 240 quad

I came up with a simple folded plate that will sit on the pocket between the FC board and the frame, rise up to the height of the camera, and then extend as faras the camera itself.
The dimensions were 10mm,17mm rise and another 40mm for the mounting plate. The width I am not worried about, anything near 25mm wide will do

I scrounged around our scrap bin for a scrap of light ally.
I found this: Its the perfect width.

Using the dimensons i came up with, I scribed the bend and cut lines on the piece of ally; 10, 17 and 40 (10, 27 and 67)

    Now to cut and bend...

Looks cool Max I keep an eye on this, what are you going to place on the other end to balance the weight of the camera or are you going to slide it more central or is it light enough it won't matter? Sorry to be a pest but I am curious as to how this will work.

I dont know about the weight distribution yet. The Mobius seems kinda light. I hope it does not have a big effect when its all done.

    Cut and bent to shape.

Not bad from a piece of scrap

How it sits on the quad- The rear portion fits nicely in the FC bay, and the front sits on top of the camera

A little hot glue and she's done

    Now to mount the camera.

Looking good nice metal work. I'm curious about this mod because it may open some options for me with my 450.

    All ready for the camera.

Velcro on the plate and on the Mobius

    Sticks perfect

A close-up of how it sits- nice and tight

I like that style of video camera too, debating getting one down the road.

I really like it, Jim. Picture quality is excellent. I am thinking of only using this on my FPV planes this summer. Its a lot lighter an a lot sleeker than a boxy Gopro.

I'm not sure about image stabilisation though. I know the Gopro has built in image stabilisation. I don't know if the Mobius has it.
