Set up as per manual 30ish flights on it , the carbon won't help the canopy tray stops the air from getting to the canopy to suck it in. As much flap as you can get and power it in. I'd be interested to see how much weight is added to your setup.

    Hi,
I didn't find any information about replacement insert in the original instruction manual. Could you please give a link to the one on which it is written, so as to know how it looks like?

    Thank you

Here is the stock insert (Sandro's)... very heavy and brittle.

2.6oz for the plastic and one could easily count on another 1+oz for silicon to glue it in and seal it

To save some weight over stock and make the canopy the stiffest part of the fuse (), I cut some strips of 1oz CF cloth and laid up a lattice on the inside with West System Epoxy thinned down.

Did the layup last night... a dump truck could drive over it and it wouldn't collapse, LOL

Best of all.. the blacked out paint and CF layup added only 1.3oz. So at least 2.7oz savings over stock!!

Ok !!!! I completely missunderstood the word "insert" !!
So this part has to be strenght enough to avoid the canopy to be sucked in.
So it means that the engine may not have enough entry gate for the air.
Wouldn't it be more interesting to open up the air entry ? For example in using the tips of the last picture of the following thread :
    http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showt...vanti-S/page15
Should be lighter and better for the air volume of the engine ?

ROTFL!!! I see in the first post that the person cut off that bubble on the tank also! Too funny.

I completely agree with you... if there is that much negative pressure being developed inside to suck a canopy in, then the inlets aren't big enough. But I didn't think I would be able to open up the inlets enough without making it look weird. Thanks for this link. There are 4 inlets. I might look at opening up the bottom 2 a bit more instead of making 2 more on the canopy like he did.

Another reason why I appreciate build threads so much... a wealth of knowledge out there for us all to tap into.

    Cheers

Thanks for the link ! In fact I got it, but I was looking for the wrong thing about the "insert" ... so I couldn't understand what you were talking about !
I hope I will be able to post some pictures of the electric gear soon ! If I understand how to join picture !
