So when using as roll spoilers they deploy and retract at the speed of the contol input, then as speed brakes on landing they deploy and retract as you have them set up. Fast up, slow down. Also of course I am sure you know, the flaps and slats only when wings are extended.

I agree with Jim, as long as the linkage is strong on the flap system, a little play wont matter. The airflow will keep them in place in each postion. You should see the slop in the flap systems of real planes. All the planes I have flown have a lot of slop in the flap system. Some it was even required.
It looks like Grumman Engineers borrowed the Spoiler Roll idea from the famous WWII Northrop P-61 Black Widow that used spoilers in conjunction with very small Ailerons.

ALOT of aircraft have, and still use the spoilers to help roll response. Most modern airliners use the spoilers to help roll at slower speeds. Even my Dash 8 uses the spoilers to help roll rates bellow 140kts.

I know what your saying Jim, I was just pointing out that it wasn't and isn't exclusive to the P-61 and that configuration is still in use today on a large number of planes. Just sayin...

Well technically speaking, yes I do, lol. I am a shareholder in the company...

The one wing is done.. started on the other last night.

I will then pull out the landing gear, disassemble and paint white. Should keep me busy for couple weeks!

    Re: Skymaster F14 Fully Loaded!!

Had Sandro over and we looked at the slop in the flaps... weren’t happy, so agreed to do an external linkage.

Waaaaaay better now. Still need to paint the horn, servo arm and linkage grey to blend in with the wing.

    OMG!! It's ruined!!!

Yeah, after seeing the wing at your place Trevor, it is the smarter way to go. No worries about flutter.

Too bad that they could not do an internal setup like on an Ultra flash flap. No biggie, and you won't even see it with all the stuff hanging off the bottom of the wing!
