I'm so excited to finally get started!!! It's taken some time to get everything bought and planned, but now I'm finally ready to go! I don't really plan to do anything earth shattering here... my builds will follow a ton of the moficiations pioneered by Trev (thanks Trev).
Ok, here are a few details:
Carden 124 Pro:
Built for IMAC only
Lots of carbon fiber and lightening
Fully cored foam (wings, tail, turtle deck, etc)
DA200 magnesium on da headers and cans
Jeti DS16 with CB200 and R3's
White Rose mains. J&J tailwheel assembly
2S pulse RX batteries
BLS 172 servos on all surfaces
The 109 "Mini PRO" (as I'm calling it) will be a scaled down 124 Pro. I've always loved the lines of the 124 Pro but prefer to have a great looking 35%er to fly when I'm not practicing IMAC. So, I decided I'd shrink the plans to the 124 and scratch build a mini version. The 109 Mini Pro will be equipped with similar gear to the 124 but with a 120 "paint mixer" on headers/cans.
I hope you enjoy the builds! Post a comment! Ask questions! This is how we all learn more!
Thanks,
Craig Rideout

Thanks Trev! Gotta set expectations early on.... these are huge projects so this thread will be a slow burn. Both planes will probably turn out awful looking and crooked. There you go lol

That's the spirit Craig... set the bar low so you won't be disappointed. can't wait to see them unfold... Will turn out amazing.. I have no doubt. Besides what could go wrong. You've got the full force of the EM for support...

It's a blast man!!!
So, to start off, I traced all the 124 ply parts on a huge roll of white paper, then I had them shrunk to 88% of full size. 88.0% is specific because I needed the OD of the finished mororbox to equal the OD of the 35% carden extra cowling. After shrinking the plans, I cut out the paper parts and gave the scroll saw a work out.
I bought 6 ply 1/8" ply, covered it in blue tape, then used spray adhesive to glue the templates down. Then cut as accurately as possible.
Hope that makes sense!
