Just have to keep a close eye I guess.
Since my 100 mAh 1/2 a days, I've gotten in the habit of charging after each flight.
Doesn't cost anything, and I'm just standing around anyway.

    Just me...
12 Mph constant, no real gusts. But lots of low slow and high energy flying, and a mix of low + high rate gyro functions along with a few knife edge loops. The gyro makes knife edge loops almost effortless "ALMOST".. lol. I was just surprised at the amount of battery used, other than that, it was totally flawless.

    This plane has 10 Servos:

    1 Choke
    1 Throttle
    4 High Torque Ailerons
    2 High Torque Elevator
    2 High Torque Rudder
    IBEC for Ignition

Controlled by Aura, are a total of 8 servos.

As mentioned above, on a normal flying day, I could fly the whole day with 2 x 3700 Lipo's and still be pretty much at least 1/2 capacity. Yesterday after 6 or 7 flights (can't remember, was overwhelmed by visiting dignitaries with wearing no belts.. hahahah) the total remaining capacity was at 30%.. This means, I used up a total of 5180 Mah over 6 or 7 flights, but I can't remember. HOLY MOLY!!!!

    Range will be: 740 - 863 Mah / Flight.

Up all those corrections from the Gyro takes up some energy.
Hey Joe, I wonder if you could try reducing gains a bit...maybe there's some real minor hunting/oscillation that's keeping your servos working but not so much that you can see it. I've found and others have commented on the other boards that you can reduce gains pretty significantly before the loss of effectiveness is really noticeable.

On my 35cc Extra 260 I'm using much less mah from my flight batteries than I was with a Cortex, however I've also converted it to brushless so less vibes and no ignition draw. I know apples to oranges, but I don't think the Aura itself causes any great power draw, at least in my application.

I'm actually still experimenting, at this point it's really hard to tell the difference between regular Medium and 3d mode in terms of function. The 3D mode feels more dampened at center.

Turning down the gains, as mentioned by Corey, doesn't change the feel between the 2 modes. Next I'll experiment with fly by wire mode. That should be interesting.

What do you consider a "3D" mode, and how does it differ from other modes?
I'm experimenting with lower stick priorities.
I set up a spread sheet and am trying them around 50%

    Where are yours, and why?

    Thanks

    Ah,
It didn't appear as a hyperlink.

I'm trying to figure out why stick priority needs to be 100% in a 3D mode though.
That's why I'm experimenting with priorities a lot lower.
The Aura is fighting me a bit in pop tops and rollers for instance.
Trying to free it up a bit.
This is mostly in the QQ Extra though.
It's my go to beater plane.
I just throw it in the truck when I want to get out for a few quick flights now and then.

    Thanks and take care
    Bob

    Hey Bob,

I'm with you, a lower stick priority is probably more appropriate in a "3D" mode. I think I've put all mine at around 90%, but I only have it on 3D airframes with huge control surfaces, so if I'm beyond 90% on the stick the plane is moving over some axis pretty violently and the stabilizer doesn't do much.

Also remember that gains are proportional to stick priority. As soon as you start moving the stick away from center the gain starts going down, so even with stick priority at 100% if you are at 95% stick you're only getting 5% of whatever your gain is set at.

I think with your QQ Extra you're fighting the lack of energy that small, light foamies have more so than the the stabilizer. Haven't seen any planes in that class do a really good pop top.
