Badan Vertigo 2M Build Thread!!

After having soo much fun with the 180cc Vertigo (3M), when Dan at Badan started working on his 60cc version (called the 2M) I was all over it!!

As promised, Dan sent me the first production kit of the 60cc. We actually have a second kit here for Jim Daly and a 3rd kit is enroute for John Craven.

Really, really excited about this project since there are very few 60cc kits out there.

Here is the Prototype 2-meter version that belongs to Dan.

He decided to do electric. Weight is a super light 15.2lbs!!!! That's light for a 60cc airframe!!

I'm on the fence with my Vertigo 2M. Will likely put in my BME58 on CF pipe. The BME is the lightest in the class and should get me into the mid-upper 14lbs

The BME is not a powerhouse by any means but should work perfect on a sub 15lb airframe

I got the Baby Vertigo unpacked!! Tons of foam chunks and hardly any wood, LOL.

This build uses some pretty unique build techniques. Never seen some of these techniques before so should be bigtime fun

The gear is made by a buddy of Dan and it is remarkable. Insanely light and such a nice finish. I see it in the jets and these kits.. no one in the world can beat the quality of glass and CF parts like the Czech's

Lightest cowl I have seen.

The wood is all 1mm (1/32)... crazy, crazy thin

I have Jim Daly ' s kit at my house. I will be building it for him. Work shop and bench gets a cleaning tonight.
Hopefully start putting the fuselage together tomorrow.

Trevor wasn't joking at how light this plane is. The entire plane , and all the material that usually goes in the garbage. Along with the box it was shipped in .... doesn't weigh 20 lbs. Combined !!!!!

I picked up a 35 cc aj Lazer from Ed last night. Just the shipping box for the 35cc Lazer weighs more than the entire package and contents of this vertigo.

I bet it would fly fine on a piped 35cc

Where are the wings? Seems all I can find are these massive ailerons, LOL.

Dove into the box this evening. Trev showed all the piles of foam in this kit.
I will show some of the wood.
The kit comes with 3 sheets of ply that all the main parts have been router cut from.
The parts are all still attached by little tabs that need to be cut and sanded down

The main fuselage structure is 3/32 ply. Tab lock construction.
The motor box and formers are 1/ 4 inch ply.
