A few shots of the landing gear. It looks very similar to the Skymaster gear, only the rubber on the tires is not inflatable like the SM ones.
One thing I've found is the 6 flat-head screws on the retract bodies that hold them together do not have locktite and can come loose. So I re-locktite'd them and torqued them up.

One of the complaints on some of the first Avantis was the landing gear mounts were missing some glue. This run has been beefed up. The pictures don't show it, but tucked in up under each rail is a really nice hardwood tristock to provide added strength. And there appears to be lots of glue.
Per the last 2 pictures, I decided to fillet all the pieces with Hysol 9462 and chopped CF. Pretty sure this will be ultra-strong once cured
Tomorrow I'll start mounting the gear![]()

Are you planning to install the wing fences?

Wow, they are huge. I've seen a few photos where they have been left off but haven't read what that did to the flight performance. I think the plane looks much better without them but your probably right about knife edge given the size of the things.

I really like the added touch in these kits of the padded stands. Really nice quality and sturdy!!
I just started into Sandro's wings... hinges, horns, servo set-up, wiring, gear, plumbing, fences!! Hope to have 2 sets of completed wings by tomorrow![]()
