    Comp Arf F4u Corsair build

Ok I am finally out of my hibernation, and I decided I am going to put all my attention on this plane.
This is a kit version, and it looks like one of the very early kits, it has folding wings, a brand new Moki 257. 7 cylinder, cockpit kit , seiara retracts, no instructions, and no build threads on line of the kit build at all.
Any suggestions will always be welcome..

Re: Comp Arf F4u Corsair build

So I started the build yesterday, first on the list was installing the retracts. I cut open the retract doors, cut out the centre block and fit the main gear in place. next was make the tail gear former and mounting parts.
this went together with no Issues. while the glue is drying I cut open the the hing slots for the inner flaps, and for the ailerons. Today I started working on the wing folding Mechs, Tis kit had been started and the wing folding mechanism is installed wrong, so I had my hands full all day correcting the mistake and getting the wings to fit.

Re: Comp Arf F4u Corsair build

It looks Like my kit comes with 2 right stabs , and 2 Right Elevators, Also I have parts missing in the Landing gear, and need a air cylinder for the tail wheel, I hope Comp Are will get the parts for me quick.

Also you can see the difference in the fit of the wing, I had to reset the right wing Mech to get the alinement properly and close that Gap

I also cut out some servo service hatches for the ailerons, this should make it easier to service If needed.

Here is something new I learned today, it seems that the horizontal stabs on the corsair are interchangeable, Left and right are Identical , not mirrored just flipped

This is one very complicated kit, the quality is pretty good but it is a very involved kit. It took me 2 days to correct the seating of the wing mechanism, the sleeves were installed in the wrong angle.
Now I have to figure out how to make the stabs removable.it is 44 inch wide and is designed to be fixed, that would be a transportation nightmare

Re: Comp Arf F4u Corsair build

    very cool build.
Looks like you have the resources to make this happen nicely.

I had a question on the holes in the top of the wing tho.
they look like they are for the wing-folding mechanism, but I am not sure of what the scale version would be like.

are those holes staying like that, or if not, what is the plan to cover them?

    Thx
