    Florida flying

Thought I better check in with you fellows to express my condolences to you all about the crappy weather you-all are having in Canada! I feel so- so sorry for you not being able to fly. Here in Florida , itís a different story. Today I spent 7 hours flying in 80 degree F weather with zero, yes, thatís zero wind. What a total blast! Really have come to know a lot of great guys here at the Tri County Rc Club. The rest of the week is supposed to be a repeat of today . SOABtch I just hate that, ha ha! Also had a stranger walk up to me and introduced himself. None other than, Dave Patrick, designer and builder of multiple models, avid Joe Nall participant and soon to be judge at Top Gun! Wow- - better than meeting the friggin Queen. Iíll keep you-all up to date as the fun continues .

I have read several of your posts over the last year, with what I had read I thought you where a pretty good guy. This just destroyed that nice image I had of you. Evil mean and nasty now Ha Ha. Sounds like a great time and neat meeting Dave Patrick. Flown several of his planes over the years . Enjoy the weather, remember you eventually have to come back ! Nice balmy -40 to -42c here the last several mornings !!

It’s beautiful Jack. You’ll get a kick outta this one Jack. On my first day here at Ocala , Iflew the hell outta my 2nd BH 100 and after a whopping 4.5 minutes proceeded to shear off all but one prop bolt, screwed a brand new 3.5 in Aluminum spinner and a perfectly good 26-10 prop. Lowrider’s solution— drive to Graves Hobby and by a brand new DLE 120. . Ya ya ok- laugh here—- ! Suddenly my 2200 CAD 1/3 scale is - - - well let’s just say- a hella of a lot more. This one’s for you !

    Re: Florida flying

Well damn Orval, sorry to hear that!! Makes me laugh!! Thank goodness the plane is alright. A DLE 120 EH!! I must say if you're gonna go Chintz the DLE is likely your best option. Lots-O parts available for them and reasonably priced.

Now, you must've had to step up a couple prop sizes....make a difference in the way it flys'..you fly? I'm assuming it has way more the enough umpfffff now?

Really glad to hear it's much nicer there this year....enjoy your well deserved vacation Orval!!

Oh gosh yes Jack. Way more power than the 100. Only have an hour of run time on the new one, and she’ll really rip. One of the guys at the field has the decibels app on his iPhone, and he told me yesterday that I have the loudest plane at the field ! Don’t know if he was congratulating me or admonishing me. Doesn’t really matter cuzz Im going to let her rip again tomorrow!

    Re: Florida flying

Hereís a quick pic of my Super Cub resting between flights. Notice the American hospitality- - they saved a big old live oak for me to park under and set up. Actually , I set up here because itís the only place that thereís no safety fence to try and pry this big bird through and onto the runway . Twelve foot wide enterances to the field and my 141 in wingspan really seem to clash!
