It seems there is a lapse in security on this site with spammers posting their garbage almost daily in the Off Topic section. There are two new 'members' today alone posting trash with links. Is anyone looking into these lapses of security?

Use the “report post” feature, bottom left hand side triangle, in the post you want to report, the moderators seem to get it quick enough.
I think most forums are susceptible to these malicious attacks. Don’t open the links, or answer the post in anyway. Just report it when you see it.

All have been reported and I am sure the Admin is tired of seeing my spam reports. They eventually get deleted, but the concern here is that none of the information on this site is secure. That includes all our email accounts as a start. I have seen this elsewhere, but the admins on other sites have closed any loop holes to stop the bleeding. Just hasn't happened here yet, so members need to be wary.

To be clear, the forum hasn't been "breached". There isn't a security breach in any way.
Here is what is happening: A new user signs up to the forum. This user has all the info necessary to sign up, and this user goes through the verification process of signing up. Once the new user gets a valid account, this new user starts to post ads for questionable or spammer products/links.
We can't stop this from happening. The only way to stop this from happening would be to not allow any new users, or to have some sort of complicated user referral system.
There is a process that tries to weed out any automated or spammer type user accounts from being created, and it does a pretty good job. We usually get hundreds of fake/spammer new account requests per day, and these are denied and flagged. Occasionally one to two slip through the cracks.
All forum sites deal with this sort of thing.
These new user accounts are only a threat if you click on one of the questionable links that they post. But honestly, anyone could post a questionable link on any forum site. Get a good browser malware/phishing/anti-virus app. if you are using any public internet sites.
