    2 giant scale warbirds rescues

I picked up these 2 rare giant scale warbirds this past spring and it's time to finish them.
First up is a 1/4 scale Clark spitfire. I picked this up from Mad Dog back in April, it needs quite a bit of TLC and repairs. The elevators were broken the cockpit is a disaster , the plane had quite a bit of hanger rash and the canopy is broken and in bad shape.
Second is a 1/5 scale 3w F7F tigercat that was built by 3w for a fellow in Seattle Washington. The plane was purchased in 1995. Built by 3w with 2 3w 48 twins. He refinished the airplane in the current paint scheme and it competed in Top Gun back in 2003. The plane was then sold and it changed quite a few hands until I got it last spring.
I have installed 2 da100L in her, reinforced the nacelles with carbon plates. Changed the gear doors to electric. A lot of the original honey comb fibreglass was brittle and had to get filled and fixed. Now it is going to my factory for a new paint job. I sent the main and nose retracts back to Down and Locked for a refresh and get the new controller for them. And now I am going to build a scratch cockpit and instrument panel for her .

These 2 warbirds are all I am going to work on until they are flight ready

The Clark Spitfire came with a DA 85 that was not installed. The original Merlin was sold , I decided to instal a new DA 100 inline, I got Paul from Oshawa club to make me a custom scale functional exhaust for her. This guy a custome motorcycle restorer and a great fellow modeller, he is an absolute magician when comes to metalwork.

Some one cut out the elevator control horn out so I milled a new part out off a block of aluminum.
This should fit nice and hidden away

Re: 2 giant scale warbirds rescues

Somehow a 1/4 scale spitfire without a scale door opening is just not my style, so I decided to cut it out and make it right.
Installed the elevator control horn , then took a look at the cockpit. This needs a major rework so out it comes and the fine detail work starts

Ok dumb question here....after the two vertical cuts how did you get in there for the horizontal cut?
