    Refueling problem solved!

Last year, I had a Sullivan pump that lasted one season then the motor burned up. Got a new one and the third day at the airfield, I noticed smoke coming out of the hole for the switch. That's not going to last. So I searched for an appropriate replacement.

    Re: Refueling problem solved!

Got one of these cheap fuel pumps made for Toyota from China. If it can pump fuel from a 40 liter tank, should be fine. I soldered smaller fittings to match my fuel line. It all looked fine on paper but, when I got to the airfield it was way too slow. Running on 3S lipo, it took 1/2 hr getting 3/4 full before I gave up and refit the Sullivan. I tried 4S but got little if any improvement.

Even my backup hand pump is faster!

I searched everywhere for an answer. Do not want to spend close to $300 for a fancy hobby pump.
    Look what I found.

    Re: Refueling problem solved!

    This was $79 + shipping from amazon.ca
Rated for 12V and more volume than I need, so I tried it with 2S Lipo. Got fuel lines all connected and a switch installed. I ran a test to fill a 1 liter container. Took 16 seconds! At that rate, it will fill my plane in just about one minute! Looking forward to using it at a fun fly this Saturday. Here is a picture to show size comparison.

I am using it for jet fuel. (kerosene) Should work fine for gas.

One thing I should mention: The fittings that come with it are for 1/2" hose. I found replacements for 3/16 hose at Low's.

Or you can buy a proper pump made for the fueling job in Canada.

Bought one of these from Icare at the Toledo show. You can buy one with or without a battery supply attached. Nice little unit that pumps pretty well on 2s battery.
