    Spektrum ix12

    Hey Guys,

Not sure if there are any Spektrum fans here but I just wanted to show my new transmitter.

I like it. Super easy to use. Good for going on youtube, RCC, sending work emails, downloading manuals, online shopping, reviewing spreadsheets.......and flying airplanes too! LOL! I already flew my UMX Yak with it and all is good.

Going to test it out with a couple foamies at indoor tonight.

So far it looks pretty good!

They also did a pretty cool thing where you can switch from mode 2 to mode 1, adjust stick tension, stick travel and switch from smooth to ratchet throttle all from the front of the transmitter. No need to take it apart.

Here is a promo video for those interested:

Yikes...I had no idea this would be so much. Only $100 more for the DX18, though to be honest I'm not sure if the 18 hardware is supposed to be better or if the difference is just channels. Read on other forums that the gimbals feel better than the DX9, and a few extra channels is nice...glad to hear they improved the hardware quality instead of just banking on the Android thing. I personally couldn't care less about Android...I always have the most recent version in my pocket with a better screen, better hardware and mobile data! Glad to hear people are enjoying it though, sounds like a nice upgrade for DX9 users.

    Re: Spektrum ix12

I have the DX18 (G2) as well as the ix12. Although I haven't done a side by side comparison, the ix12 is smaller than the DX18 which will take some time getting used to. It would appear that the ix12 uses the DX9 chassis so the DX9 guys that are moving up to the ix12 will have no issue in terms of feel. I've been waiting for Spektrum to come out with a colour touch screen (not necessarily Android) which is why I jumped on this. Anyway, still getting used to this thing. For the guys the need more channels, I'm sure that Spektrum will come out with the ix18 or ix20 very soon.

Cory, if you are interested in either the ix12 or DX18, we could always meet up and you can compare the two before you buy. The DX18 is $1080, the ix12 is $900. You can buy the transmitter only ix12 for $780.00.

Hey Dave, thanks a lot for the offer, really appreciate that. My 'long in the tooth' DX9 was getting a bit flaky this season so when it was time to replace it I decided to jump ship and switch brands...so I won't be in the market for a new radio for a while hopefully!

Sounds like the ergos of the ix12 are the same as the DX9, which is a great thing IMHO. $780 is a lot more reasonable, think I paid around $600 for my DX9 4 or 5 years ago. I didn't realize that $900 package came with such an expensive receiver.

I've read on the other forums that a lot of the early bugs are getting worked out quickly with firmware updates. Sounds like they really increased the responsiveness of the screen with the latest update. Nice to know a radio you're already happy with will continue to improve and if they do come out with an ix18/ix20 it should be pretty refined!

    Re: Spektrum ix12

Congrats on the new radio Cory!

The DX18 I purchased about 2 years ago was my first Spektrum radio ever. All of my radios were JR prior to that. There are so many good brands to choose from today that you really can't go wrong.
