    Member Introduction

New member here, referred by a fellow member on another RC forum, flyinggiants. Back into the hobby for about 5 years after a 20 year break. Mostly glow and getting into some giant scale. Kit building and fabrication are my favorite part of the hobby. Roughly 3 years ago I wanted to add a smoke system to a plane and was not satisfied at all with the mess associated with smoke, large smoke oil payloads and extra weight, high oil consumption etc. So I decided to design, build, & sell my own smoke oil injection nozzles & turbine smoke tubes to burn more cleaner, longer per tank, more completely with far less mess than traditional crimped brass tube nozzles even without a pre-heater required. Serious smoke addicts still choose to preheat and benefit from thicker, fluffier, longer lasting smoke. I also devised a system for simple installation of smoke on engines running headers and canister type mufflers with no welding, brazing or soldering required.

I always enjoy chatting smoke or answering any questions I can about pumps, engines, tuning or just about anything RC. Drop me a PM or we can start a smoke thread if there is any interest.

    Thanks Ed & Kraut.
My atomizing smoke oil injection nozzles produce a flat fan shaped very fine mist of smoke oil. The pattern is sprayed at approximately a 20 degree deflection angle from the center line which allows for some nozzle placement within your muffler. They thread into a tapped hole, and because of the extended thread length, it gives you some depth of spray adjustment, as well as rotational direction positioning. Nozzles are one piece machined from either stainless steel or grade 2 titanium. Nozzles are consistent in spray pattern and volume output, which is great for multi cylinder applications. Nozzles work on engines 20cc and up per cylinder. I do recommend pre-heat on 35cc and less displacement per cylinder, but its not required. Good smoke is even possible on gas radials or gas 4 strokes without pre-heat. I do suggest a good smoke pump as you do build up a little back pressure on the pump system due to the very small orifice size.

No-weld kits are adapters that allow fitment of threaded nozzles into common header pipe sizes simply by drilling a hole and bolting them on. No brazing, soldering or welding required.

Injecting a very fine mist to spray across but not up and into the exhaust port opening makes great smoke for several reasons.

expelled fluid velocity is slowed as it exits the nozzle maximizing smoke generation.
very fine mist vaporizes instantly retaining muffler heat & minimizing unburnt blow-by. No more oil soaked fuse.
Small orifice size reduces consumption. Gain 40-50% smoke ON time per tank versus crimped brass tubing.

I also make 3/16" diameter TIG welded full stainless steel turbine smoke tubes in a few lengths which feature a flared bell end for soft line connection, Universal mounting clips, and a kink free tube bending system.

No website at this time. Forum and word of mouth, but a website is on the horizon.
