    Re: My First Scratch build

Here we are full week later. I have to say.. though you can pull the plug just a day or two later.. it is much easier when you wait the full week.

Having said that though! I was correct in my decision to split the bottom mold as the plug did not want to come out as one piece mold.

Once I spit it, it was easy.

I just realized an even greater benefit of splitting the bottom mold... Now I can EASILY make the formers needed with construction paper

Do you know where all your formers are going? Also are you going to try painting in the mold?

Thanks! I have a pretty good idea where the formers will be installed. There will only be about 5 made from 3/16 ply. The bottom of the hull will be 6oz CF There will also be some sub-structure to hold the batteries/electronics on the center plane and above any water that may find its way in.

No I will not be painting them in the mold. They will however be white Gel Coat. The first one will not be Gel coat at all as it will be experimental and I would like to be able to see threw it during the first build until the maiden. After that paint can be applied.

IMO.. painting outside the mold is better as you can sand down all the seams and get a better overall finish.

Preparing the engine pod for a mold. It and the vertical stab will be one piece.

    Re: My First Scratch build

Welllll Yes and no. When I added 40' of shelfs I was so happy to have the extra work space.. then the shelfs in no time became full with clutter.(still is) and then I spent the day yesterday cleaning the main floor. I had 4 work stands at one point and they became full of clutter.. Solution? add a 5th work stand LOL OMG! Finally I had to give in and spend the day clearing the floor.

But of course.. Yes a garage is nice. maybe time for you to move?

Im going threw a serious Mold Making Burnout situation. Think Im going to lay up some parts today.
