    Worth the Money! Freewing Avanti-S

    Hi Guys

Iam the second guy in my club to pull the trigger on the Freewing Avanti-S

Was worth the money this model has tons of power perfectly suited for small grass fields with it big wheels
I maiden the plane today and on my second flight did an amazing landing at a walking pace that included a wheely

The jet can fly on 6-channels but why not use some extra channels to some mixing - 6S anything from 3000-6200 size battery - I flew on 5000

I got mine from Hobby-Paradise http://www.hobby-paradise.com with free trade agreement pay shipping only unlike the USA
    http://www.hobby-paradise.com/en/pro...ct_detail.html that's the price cdn.

PS: get the easylight night flying lights also fantastic and very bright

Hey Ken, they are getting popular around here too. I have about 25 flights on mine now. I got it from RC-Castle. I'm flying it with 6s 4400's and 5000's. Fast enough for me. Lands nice, handles our grass, and cross winds great. I've had zero issues with it.

What kind of flight times do you get? I've reduced by 6S lipo stock from 5000s to 3700s...

Hi Cory, I'm getting 3 minutes and 30 seconds. On my Gens Ace 60c 5000's, there is some wiggle room if I need to coast around a bit. I also have some lower c 4400's that can also go that same time.

There is a guy on RC Groups going 7 minutes, but what's the point of flying it like a trainer.

I agree you won't want to fly it like a trainer - I flew at 1/2 throttle on 6S 5000 which is a nice cruise speed and still had 34% left after a 4min flight - 4:30 gives you 5min to get it down would be my limit unless I get aggressive with the model - It will fly very fast makes my old Stinger 90 look like grandpa sitting still on the porch.

    Yup,

    See Darren from Post #2.

I am thinking of the F-5, if somehow I can swing it. Its a lot, I know, but worth the try.... and a sexy-as-hell plane!!

Which do ya think tho, would be best for a beginner jet-guy?

Re: Worth the Money! Freewing Avanti-S

Cory, easy peasy!! I've only flown one other ducted fan before, and it was a hand toss. I was hesitant to try anything else until I started reading the massive thread on RC Groups. This jet, and the Freewing A-10 are designed for grass. I'm using less than half our runway, and landing on the grass is nothing, a non-event.

I can't say enough about how nice this is to fly, grass, cross winds, no wind, no effort. Makes me look like a good pilot, LOL
The only thing is you need decent batteries, high C. They are power hungry. I recently got some Gens Ace 60c 5000's, and used a bit less runway, and more voltage left over at the end. I did some Spektrum telemetry to watch the battery in flight, just as a backup.

Hey Scott, I would do some reading to see where the F5 can fly off of. I haven't seen any videos of grass, unless you have somewhere else to fly it.

I don't know how the F5 jet flies, but Freewing has nailed the jets recently. They have some really good stuff out. The T-45 Groshawk has slats!!

    Good luck, Daren
