Finishing Yellow Aircraft CF-18... 2014 Demo

I've had 2 of these Yellow F18's on the go on and off for 2 years now. Mine is at primer stage and Peter Woo's needs wings and armament built and bodywork.

While the family is away i'm gonna take the next 3 days to work on getting mine progressed in the scale details and paint.

Then next week, I will get back into building Peter's.

Re: Finishing Yellow Aircraft CF-18... 2014 Demo

I'm going to do the 2014 Canadian Demo CF18

Eric at B&E is working on the rudder artwork. He is also going to cut me all the leaf paint masks and I will airbrush on leaves.

Between all the leaves and the Canadian rondells, there are over 40 paint masks all of different sizes and leaf shapes that he is cutting for me. Lots of Airbrushing

As for the grey parts, there are over 300 markings on an F18. Add on all the nomenclature on the armament... Lots of details.

I ordered a whole bunch of water transfers from tailormadedecals.com in Germany. Ralle and Franzi are awesome to deal with!!

    Bit of a daunting task

My CF18 is all built, bodywork done an primed. Build thread is here....
    http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=203169

Before painting on the base grey and faded blue on top, I need to put in panel lines and thousands of rivets!

Panels lines are done for rudders and elevators. 1/32 and 1/64 charting tape with automotive high-build primer.

Wing and armament panel lines tomorrow. Then rivets.

All the panel lines are done!! Took 14hr to get panel lines on.

Part of the time was building the raised bubble mid distance out on the wing which is the hinge mechanism for the folding wings. The raised section is shaped balsa that is glassed and body-filled into the contour of the wing.

    Next... 600 rivets.
