I can't post a link due to the way I'm using the board at work.
I see that now, sounds like straight up liability management though. Dave Ribbe actually states in that post that the Aura is no more sensitive than any other RX out there, so there shouldn't be any more risk using your Tech Aero IBEC connected to your Aura than with your RX. Based on the response and I what I've read on FG I would say there are a lot of people having good success with two satellites connected to an Aura with a Tech Aero IBEC on giant scale planes. Later this season I will probably do just that with my 91" Yak with the Booma RC bat share switch I posted above.

    Re: Aura FC8 Reference Library

I just ordered a couple of the Booma switches for when I set up my 50cc plane, and to help set up the club members that may need it.
I'm sure there will be more questions as I go along.

I'm still a little fuzzy on using the Smartfly Power Expander though.
One guy I just ordered an Aura for has that.
His receiver is not serial so we have other issues to deal with.
Worst case is that we set it up PWM like Cosmith and just deal with it.

    Thanks
    Bob

    Re: Aura FC8 Reference Library

Channel 5 is the jumper that goes from the receiver to the Booma rc board which feeds the IBEC.

The other ones which I'm pointing at is the split connectors for throttle and choke.

The aura sits on a stable solid plate with the jumper wires going to their respective spots on the power board and the wires on the side go to servos, power sensors, SMART port hub, etc.

Next step is to tidy up the wires. I orders wire keeps from thunderbolt rc which arrived today.

So realistically you need to run everything through a power expander. Or try using the aura as a receiver? Did I read the last 5 pages correct. Seems simple enough using the power expander.
Rx sbus to gyro, power expander signal wires to gyro except the signal wires for opti kill and throttle-send them to rx. Then setup with laptop and play and tweak? Correct or no.

    Re: Aura FC8 Reference Library

You don't have to run through a power expander. You can run dual power, plug batteries in any free port on the receiver AND on the Aura 8.

    You got the rest right.

If you don't use a board it just seems like a lot of power going through one wire off your rx. Like you said run a second power supply to the gyro. Seems Schety without a board lol. I was trying to eliminate power expanders from my setup but to feel safe I will need them again lol.

Hey guys, Joe will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think we've gotten confused by all the power board talk. If you don't need a Power Board without an Aura, then you don't need one with it. Think of the Aura as having the exact same power bus as your receiver.

If I understand your question Brodie, you are concerned about having all the power flow through a single serial connection from receiver to Aura when you only have one power source coming in? In that case I would say go ahead and connect your power to the Aura rather than the receiver. The lion's share of power is going to be drawn from your aileron, elevator and rudder servos...the only power going through the serial connection will be for your receiver itself, throttle servo and an IBEC if you use one. Of course, it's more robust to have redundant power sources, but again that's no different if you're running an Aura or not, with the exception that you can plug one into the Aura and one into the receiver.

What plane are you putting this in Brodie?
