Hey Bob, IMHO just forget about power distribution for 30 - 60cc birds...it's unneeded weight and complexity. Those power distribution boxes are designed for situations where your servos are drawing more power than your RX can provide, probably a good idea on anything 100cc and up. You shouldn't run into this situation in anything that runs one servo per aileron I would say.
If running an ignition kill is your big hang up, here is what I suggest...get any receiver that can connect serial to the Aura, make your serial connection and plug all your aileron/rudder/elevator servos into the Aura. Plug everything else into the receiver, including a Tech Aero Ultra IBEC to power your ignition and provide remote kill. I'll go take a photo now of my 91" Yak gas setup for your buddy...it's exactly what I've described except my RX does not have a serial output, so I've had to use PWM.
If you are using a serial connection and redundant batteries, I think you can make it a little more robust by inputting one battery to the receiver and one to the Aura. That way you don't have all your power running through serial connection. Maybe Joe can chime in on this just because I've never tried it.

My friend's 30cc that I set up using no receiver and just two satellites is right now using his IBEC through the Aura which is as of this moment has become a no-no so this idea is not an optionIf running an ignition kill is your big hang up, here is what I suggest...get any receiver that can connect serial to the Aura
He has no recevier with a serial connection.
There are a few guys in our club that I converted to Aura and I have them hooked on proportional gains on a slider.t's exactly what I've described except my RX does not have a serial output, so I've had to use PWM.
Very verstatile and very easy to adjust in flight, easier than a knob.
I'm always using various rate gains during a flight.
That is one, but not my only reason for not being in love with, or a fan of the PWM option.
This is exactly what I described as the set up for my 30cc planes in a previous post.you are using a serial connection and redundant batteries, I think you can make it a little more robust by inputting one battery to the receiver and one to the Aura. That way you don't have all your power running through serial connection. Maybe Joe can chime in on this just because I've never tried it.
I do however have two 50cc planes that I haven't set up yet.
That was my interest in the power boards.
Thanks
Bob

Here is a photo of my 60cc Yak. Unfortunately it is using PWM which means no extra port for master gains. There are a couple remedies that I don't like such as using a Y-cable or matchboxes for the elevators and ailerons (already doing this on the ailerons but would rather not). I was hoping to go to a two satellite solution, but per this discussion the right solution is to go to a serial capable receiver, make the serial connection, and run a Tech Aero IBEC off the receiver itself.
Hopefully this photo helps, however if your buddy's power safe receiver has a serial port then forget about the PWM jumpers and use a serial connection. Everything else would be the same except you'll be able to do master gain and give each aileron servo it's own port. I think I have about 6 flights on this setup now, no issues so far. I am running way over powered servos and still no need for a power board...no reason you should need one on a 50cc bird, I'm sure others will tell you the same!
Let me know if you have any questions!

I guess that's what I said, but that's an opinion. You CAN run a tech aero IBEC since it's isolated through the Aura8 but I choose not to because I'm ancient and I fear ignition noise... LOL
But the way the Tech Aero IBEC is contstructed with filters and to prevent ignition feedback, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Okay...so the failure that Bob was talking about must have been something entirely different...maybe ignition power with no filter? I thought it was common knowledge not to do that with any receiver.
In any case, us Spektrum users can probably still get away with two satellites and a Tech Aero Ultra IBEC then...so Bob, pretty much all your's and your buddy's problems can be solved with one of these: http://www.tech-aero.net/ultra-ibec
For your buddy, it doesn't look like the AR9110 has a serial port. So, he's kind of stuck with a PWM setup like mine unless he wants to ditch the RX and do two satellites w/Tech Aero IBEC, or something else I've considered the AR7700: https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/...odID=SPMAR7700. Just to muddy the water more, apparently the serial port on the AR7700 isn't working great with the Aura, but it has the ability to use the Aura as a remote receiver which gives you essentially the same functionality as a serial connection.
If the power safe thing is a big deal, you can always scoop one of these: http://www.boomarc.com/en/hidden-bal...-with-pin-flag. This is my favourite power switch, turns any RX into a power safe RX essentially. It also looks far better than a bulky mechanical switch on the outside of your plane!

Yes, the issue that Bob was talking about was about an RCEXL ignition kill switch plugged into the Aura 8.

Hmmm...that one is supposed to be optically isolated as well. Doesn't even draw ignition power from the receiver, just signal for the ignition cut. I find it a little concerning that something that works fine with all other receivers creates an issue with the Aura...I wonder if they've confirmed that was the problem. Not a ton of info in that thread Bob linked to.

Actually Joe and I'm sorry if it wasn't clear, but I only use the Tech Aero IBEC.
I don't like or use the RCEXL kill.

Flex just officially disavowed themselves of ANY ignition source in the Aura in post# 444 of the R/C Groups thread. In any case, us Spektrum users can probably still get away with two satellites and a Tech Aero Ultra IBEC then...so Bob, pretty much all your's and your buddy's problems can be solved with one of these: http://www.tech-aero.net/ultra-ibec
I can't post a link due to the way I'm using the board at work.
