I found SAVOX has released a new mini servo and I had to get a pair for the rudders. SV-1261MG at 7.4V = 0.095sec & 277.7 oz-in. Got them installed and working great.

Nose gear is complete. Everything is done with loctite so should stay put.

I made up a tip plate to minimize vortices. These are temporary to be used on initial test and trim flights. They go on with two 3mm bolts so will be easy to change. I plan to try a number of different things like Horner tips, wing tanks, etc.

Nice looking gear. I was wondering when you were going to make the opening. Are you planning a door for it? Interesting concept of being able to try different wing tips to see the performance increases or decreases. Tanks may not be the most aerodynamic but they will look the coolest. Take care.

Re: The birth of Solstice (build thread)

Past my deadline for when I thought I would have it in the air. However, there is a good reason. I decided to order a larger turbine to install, so I am waiting for my new SW190 to arrive. In the meantime, I am working on lots of little details. Here is an example: completed the main gear covers.

I am not too worried about the engine heat because the hot end is sticking out of the end. However, painted the engine mounting area with high temp paint.

Aileron controls are completed. Pushrods are 3mm threaded rod with cf tubing for added support. After all, with this length of servo arm, it can push approximately 36lbs.

Re: The birth of Solstice (build thread)

I wasn't completely happy with the operation of the rudders so I replaced the servo arms with these aluminum ones that clamp on to the servo. Just had to cut them down so the long length is not sticking out too far.
