After the standard grey primer interior I followed Scott's recommendation and fitted the canopy with 100% Glue. Thanks for the tip it worked out great!
Thanks Scott, where do you buy the glue?
Shaping up! I need ideas on what t prime the cockpit area with before paint and also which glue to use for the canopy if anyone has any suggestions let me know!
DuBro charge port and power switch. I've never used this one before, I hope it works well.
On to the tailwheel and tail feathers. I'm using the DuBro hardware that cam with the kit. The controls and smaller and throws much shorter than more modern 3D ships that's for sure. Very scale...
Shaping up, I used lots of 60 grit sandpaper for this, with a large sander and a homemade 2"x1" sanding block with handle.
This was a simple fix. I used 1/8" balsa sheeting. On to the lower fairing the more forming/sanding.
This is what I need to fix: It should be easy because I have the plywood that was removed so I can just glue it back then build the balsa back up in the front as well. I plan to leave a hole the size...
Working on the cowl now- This is VERY new to me since its a built up balsa cowl and I've only ever had fiberglass or plastic molded cowls. It was a bit of a challenge getting it on but I took my time...
Some of this finishing work and shaping/profiling is new to me. I've learned the value of shaving wood with a knife and keeping sanding to a minimum.
Good evening,
I've made a little progress but not as much as I'd like. Continuing with the fuselage.
Nice looking plane.
Thanks, feels good getting my feet wet building again.
Installed servo mount rails and servos.
After gluing the lazer rod tube in place I was able to sheet the bottom of the fuselage. Pretty straight forward.
Trying some brass tube and washers to make my 3\4" motor mount stand off. So far so good.
That was quick and easy...except I forgot to glue in the washer inside the wing! I had to pull up one of the bottom wing skins and redo it again. All done now.
Milestone! Time to work on landing gear and wing bottom sheeting now.
Preparing wing for mounting:
Framed up the fuselage and installed the firewall. Realising now that the motor mount has the motor 3/4" too close to firewall so I'll have to fashion some sort of standoff.
Getting ready to mate...
Mounted the engine mount to firewall and drilled the required 1\4" holes. Working on the fuselage bulkheads preparing to get the fuse sides secured in place. When working on these larger pieces it...
Well I needed to get some servos and other odds and ends so I headed to the LHS. I've been looking around for a OS .46AX or FX but also have reservations about buying second hand engines. The LHS had...
Time to start the fuselage! Pretty straight forward so far.
